Matisyahu Spokane reviews
Love him- but not great
I have seen Matisyahu MULTIPLE times and at multiple venues. I’ve loved every single show- both GA floor with standing room only and fancy sit down intimate seating. The show at Rialto in Tucson was disappointing. His new album is great and I was hoping for more songs but he played 80% of his older music. The crowd was not fun to be in (college kids drunk or high for a night out). The sound mixing sounded harsh. The lights were blinding (not adjusted?). Floor was sticky with drinks and vape smoke filled the air. I ended up leaving 20 minutes early.
I love Matisyahu but that was a sad experience.
Intimate setting and great vibe
We enjoyed seeing the show and the special treat of seeing Matisyahu’s son and Adam Weinberg’s daughter perform. This gave the show a warm feeling. My only reason for 4 stars is that many people come to shows to hear the hit songs they know and love. I get it that artists want to move on by introducing their new material. I believe artists need to give the audience what they want. The perfect opportunity was at the encore. To the regret of many in the audience the hits were creative renditions not the songs they paid to hear. Artists, there’s a balance you must strike so everyone leaves satisfied.
